Isostatic Extensions refers to balance and equilibrium. The video and sound are not synced and the harness with its shadow are stationary against the moving image. I use these effects to recreate my experience of moving through the city as a person with neurological disorders. The sights and sounds of vehicle and human movement reflecting off the architecture and infrastructures of the urban landscape challenge motor control and sound comprehension.
A harness created of belts and 15 foot sleeves was worn while walking around the city of Winnipeg. A camera and microphone within the harness recorded the walk. Installed in a gallery the harness hangs in front of the projected video. Two speakers inside the sleeves play recorded sound from the walk.
