A term I came up with to describe my art making. You can download the paper that I wrote on my art page.
TL:DR - I have neurodevelopmental disabilities and I use different technologies for art and life. Rather than using these technologies to normalize my thinking and doing, I tinker with them to reflect my way of thinking and doing. I tinker with microphones, video cameras, computer code, electronics, machine learning, and robots. I love taking things apart - fuck the patriarchy!

Cogitechnaut is me, Erika Jean Lincoln. My alter ego and digital handle. The name combines:
Cogi, meaning in latin - to gather.
Tech, from the greek tekhne - art or craft.
Naut, ancient Greek suffix for voyager/explorer.
Literally, I would describe it as an artist who gathers things while travelling.
As my alter ego, I am a cosmonaut character exploring a technological world and making art from gathered data.

I have had the same production studio for 24 years. I have shared it with many artists, currently I share with Ingrid Lincoln.
My favorite way to describe the studio’s location is : Lincolnlab Studios is located in Winnipeg-Treaty 1 territory. This site is entangled with the Mississippi migratory flyway, on the bed of an ancient glacial lake, at the northern limit of the monarch butterfly's migration, 300 km from the geographic centre of Turtle Island.

Lincoln is my last name, but the connection to the MIT Lincoln Laboratory is an nod to the work done there. Established in 1951, to improve air defence, researchers worked with radar and signal processing.
